Assessment

The Student Assessment Guide and Learning Plan describes the evidence required to be competent in this unit.

You can track your progress by comparing it against unit requirements and at every stage of your learning and study. You can also get support from your iTAFE mentor and adviser.

Study Guide

There are many ways that you might choose to make your way through the unit. The diagram and suggested sessions (below) will help to plan your learning through the Implement strategies for the inclusion of all children unit. The sessions outlined below are a suggestion only - you may have another way that you prefer to study.

Topic 1 - Promote inclusion and diversity (Blue tiles)

This includes:

  •       Programs that promote inclusion and participation
  •       Supporting all children regardless of their background, gender, age or abilities
  •       Service philosophy and policies that relate to inclusion and diversity

  •       Valuing different capabilities and abilities

  •       Upholding children’s rights to their own cultures, identities and abilities
  •       Respect and equal relations

A few points to think about for your blog:

Reflect upon practices you have seen, are practices equitable in ensuring all children have opportunities to achieve learning outcomes?

How could you assist, support and encourage children’s efforts to participate?

Give an example of an experience that will provide children with opportunities to learn about similarities and differences and how we can all live together.

Topic 2 - Identify children with barriers (pink tiles)

This includes:

  • Investigate children’s’ barriers to learning
  • Consider a range of additional needs such as:

This includes:

  • Developing a plan in consultation with other professional and family
  • Adapting environment and routines to ensure inclusion

How could you encourage others to adopt inclusive attitudes and practices?

Topic 4 - Monitor and review strategies (Orange tiles)

  • Sharing information about progress
  • Establishing and maintaining constant information exchange with all involved
  • Closely monitor new strategies and the impact on the child
  • Identify and respond to any barriers to the strategies implemented.

A few points to think about for your blog:

What are some ways you could share progress amongst everyone involved?

How would you monitor new strategies and the impact these strategies are having on the child?
